#GJC2017: How to Participate

The Global Junior Challenge is an international competition that rewards the use of new technology for 21st century education. Promoted by the City of Rome, the GJC is organized every two years by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

The GJC is open to everyone: schools and universities, public and private institutions, cooperatives and social associations, enterprise and private citizens. Admissible projects must be active as of December 31, 2016, and address young men and women up to age 29, who use ICT for educational objectives. Projects are divided into four categories based on beneficiary age:

  • up to 10 years old
  • up to 15
  • up to 16
  • up to 29

 

and three other categories:

  • Youth Access to Working World
  • Integration of Immigrants and Refugees
  • Environmental Sustainability

 

To continue the activities of Professor Emeritus Tullio De Mauro (Torre Annunziata, 1932 - Rome, 2017) and promote the precious role of teachers and administrators who work daily to bring inclusion and quality to their schools, the “Best Innovating Teacher Award” (first presented at the 2015 edition) will be rebranded as the “Tullio de Mauro Award” to remember the linguist who headed the FMD for its first ten years. Participation regulations are described in a specific call dedicated to "Special Tullio De Mauro Award."

 

AWARDS

Four types of wards will be presented at GJC 2017:

  • Rome “she-wolf” bronze medals for winners in the various categories
  • Silver medals for most innovative projects by Italian schools
  • Technological device for Special “Tullio De Mauro” Award
  • Cash prize for project in developing country

 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

To present a project, please register at www.gjc.it and complete the on-line application by July 31, 2017. An international jury will evaluate the projects and select the finalists who will showcase their projects at the final event (Rome, October 25-27, 2017). The Awards Ceremony will be held in the prestigious Sala Giulio Cesare of the Rome Campidoglio.
