EYCI: imagine, create, innovate

The European Commission has declared 2009 the European Year for Creativity and Innovation with the slogan “imagine – create - innovate” to promote creative and innovative approaches in various fields of human activity and address the challenger posed by a globalised world.

The European Year of Creativity and Innovation (EYCI) aims to increase awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation as key competences for personal, social and economic development. The official inauguration will be held in Prague on January 7th with the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek.

The fifth edition of the Global Junior Challenge will meet the challenges addressed by EYCI with two initiatives: a new category dedicated to “Creativity and Social Innovation” and an international meeting with the most important action and research social innovation centres that will be held during the final event of the GJC in October 2009.

Further information will soon be available on the new website of the Global Junior Challenge.
